Why do you want to or are you leaving your job? Why did you leave your job?

This is the second of the top 10 job interview questions.

This question results in a yea or nay vote for your being hired.Keep your answers positive. Never burn your bridges behind yourself. Likewise, do not try to metaphorically burn your last boss or company behind yourself either.

Put yourself in your interviewers seat. What would you want to hear from someone you were about to hire? All of the negative aside, there must be a lot of positive reasons for moving on or up.

Mentally consider what you want and express how what you want will help the company get what it wants.

Is there a positive spin? Did you survive several staffing reductions? Can you state it as a positive? Focus on what you are, not what you lack. Share what you learned, how you benefited or in what ways you grew.
