As a student of SEO, in my experience it helps if you use the link contextually. In other words, rather than a page with lots of your favorite links, put your link to us in relevant content within your page.So if you want to add a link to us or submit a link to us or anyone else, it is important that it be contextual. The link, the page and the part of the page needs to be on topic. If you do this it will benefit you as well as your visitor.
How? It provides value for your customers.
Question...But won’t I lose traffic? That depends on a number of factors. If that is a concern, open the link in a new window. Studies have demonstrated that many visitors do not like this however. If you follow a simple principle you can not go wrong. Help everyone else get what they want and you will get what you want.
So do I lose a lot of traffic from those who follow links away from Speechmastery.com? Maybe but I also get that many back. Also, since I have done a lot of work to find and sift through the best links, my visitors know that this is the place to go to find additional great links.
